General information

In the BA/MA study programs, the four archaeological disciplines can be combined and studied along with various Minor study programs outside the IAW. Different courses and practical exercises convey the basics of all important cultures, questions, methods, and technical knowledge. The aim is a scientific education. Further information on the types of courses can be found in the Appendix II of the study plan (only in German).

The study programme is characterized by small working groups and an intensive mentoring relationship. Many lectures and exercises are accompanied by tutorials. Additionally, excursions are included in the curriculum. The practical applications of archaeology can be learned through participation in research projects or through internships at excavation sites in the target countries, or in museums with corresponding collections. Excellent technical equipment familiarizes students with modern research methods during their studies.
